CATHOLiC iCONS

these are a few behind the scene photos, thanks again to CALViN MA for documenting the shoot., for my other NAHA shoot.  this crazy idea was based of catholic guilt.  CHRiSTOPHER KERN (www.christopherkern.com) shoot it and it was styled by my bestest friend and sweetest girl TiETjEN FiSCHER (www.artistuntied.com).  i am very excited about this shoot…can’t wait to see the final images.

i don't know what exactly we are looking at or for but it seems to have been SUPER DUPER captivating!

TiETjEN kept her assistant, LiZA, super busy steaming, sowing, and all that other stuff my girl was up for doing!

team huddle time to discuss the game plan or the shoot. out model ALEXANDRA sat reading her homework while i gussied up her locks.

team huddle lasted for a while. i also want to point out the FABULOUSLY FiERCE fur my girl TiETjEN kindly gave to me. i totally was eyeballing it at our last shoot we did together. it really was meant for me.

GRRRRL, now that is some hair!

GRRRRL, now that is some HAiR!

it takes a lot of people to make sure that everything looks perfect while you shoot the model.

HOW DO YOU WORK THiS THiNG????

what can i say, i love trying on some of the sensational clothing...sometimes i look better in it then the models!

TORY was so beautiful....we loved her!

BARBiE-TASTiC

i may have bit off more then i can chew this last weekend, my bestest pal in photo crime and most handsomest photographer CHRiSTOPHER KERN (www.christopherkern.com) decided that we could throw together a couple gigantic shoots for NAHA — north america hair awards.  so sunday we pulled off my BARBiE theme shoot.  it was a busy busy day with lots of extensions, big make-up, and bright pink lips.  it was styled beautifully by the BARBiE doppelganger herself PAULiNE MONTUPET (www.paulinemontupet.com).  here are some fun behind the scene pictures care of the sensational CALViN MA.

SiNGiNG HiGH NOTES and LOW NOTES OF GRAMMY’S

on the night of the GRAMMY’s this boy could not be any happier – hair, make-up, and fashion collide with one other passion of mine, MUSiC!  i thought that i would take the time to write up some little blurbs sharing my favorite and least favorites of the night.

the woman to go home with my GLAMMIE award is ms. JENNiFER HUDSON.  from head to toe that girl was glammed out!  she was smashing at creating a look that featured edgy and sophisticated at the same time.  the blunt bangs with her hair tightly slicked back into a long fall looked absolutely stunning on her.  and as always JENNiFER is a girl that has such a beautiful face that takes to make-up so well.  i enjoyed the dramatic liner paying with the bright gray/white on her lids and the tiny splash of pink on the lips to finish off the look.

a close second was the always captivating PiNK, did you see her performance – it was the best of the evening by FAR.  one of my favorite things about her is that she has such a harsh exterior and seems to be rough around the edges but man can that girl clean-up!  she definitely softens up her short locks by putting in an up style and finishing it off with a sparkly hair pin (i love all that sparkles).  PiNK’s make-up is always very well orchestrated, as with JENNiFER i liked the dark dramatic eyes that soften out with a light pink almost nude lip.

i absolutely love me some LADY GAGA and usually i can get behind her crazy fashion sense.  i was head over heels for the funky dress she rocked down the red carpet but was a little flabber-gasted from the neck up.  i felt that her make-up was way too extreme and caused a huge war with that insanely bright yellow hair.  GAGA had too many colors going on in such a small area…yellow, black, and bright pink lip stick…i just can’t focus!  she should have picked one aspect above her neck to showcase, if she would have toned down the make-up i really think that she could have had a WOW”iNG” look.

KE$HA, oh my my my, if her goal was to look like she partied all night and the day before the grammys she definitely succeeded.  her locks looked like a tussled mess. her hair was tragically curled, back combed, looked unwashed and left frizzy and dry.  her make-up didn’t read well on camera at all.  the eye make-up was way too creative for red carpet, she has taken the drama two steps too far.  I love glitter, but I prefer strategically placed glitter. i feel like the right side of KE$HA’s eye has been attack by the glitter monster – and not in a good way.  the colors of the glitter used may have been the demise of her look….they all just blended together and didn’t really pop on her skin tone.

THE LADiES ARE FATALE

yummy…ladies in lingerie, although myself I would prefer guys in some under roos, but these ladies are pretty darn HOT.  This is a fun little shoot that I did with the very talented BiLLY WiNTERS (www.billywinters.com) and the super blonde bombshell stylist PAULiNE MOUNTEPUT (www.paulinemontupet.com).  this was my favorite girl but you should check out the rest of the shoot on my website at www.prestonnesbit.com.

THE BREAK DOWN: GOLDEN GLOBiES

This time of the year all the award shows are out and the best part of the whole affair is seeing what everyone is wearing and how they choose to wear their hair and make-up to the fancy event.  I thought that it would be totally fun to pick out several of my favorite hair styles and make-up applications, and of course, a couple big failures!

GiNNiFER GOOWiN GiNNiFER GOODWiN, one of the stars from HBO’s BiG LOVE, wins my favorite over all look — from head to toe she was stellar!  i am in love with her cute short pixie cut.  the best part of her hair is the rich shiny deep brown color. the dark shade really brings out her luminous light eyes and her gorgeous glowing light skin.  i also think that her clean fresh make-up is such a sensational look.  i adore when you pick one dramatic part of your face (for GiNNiFER she choose her eyeliner to enhance her eyes) and  really play it up while leaving the rest of your make-up pretty simple and light.  her lip color is so subtle yet beautiful.

OLiViA WiLDEmy favorite up-style was worn by the gorgeous OLiViA WiLDE from HOUSE M.D.  i enjoy that it’s a non-up-style up-style.  her hair is pulled back from her face and has volume right where needed (forehead and crown areas) but she still has the length of her hair.  i appreciate the simplicity of the hair and truly love when hair styles look as though they took no time at all to do.  it’s such a great look because it isn’t OVER WORKED.  it truly is a style that is classy and yet youthful at the same time.

JANUARY JONES big bold red lips scare away many ladies…but the beautiful JANUARY JONES, from MAD MEN, shows that anyone can wear a beautiful bright red lip.  like i stated before it’s all about playing up one feature, your lips, and keeping the rest of your make-up very natural and pale/light-colored.  JANUARY’S make-up is one of my favorite from the big night, her skin looks absolutely perfect and porcelain.  i think that old hollywood glamour is making a major come back.  the head band was another thing that i loved about her, a simple ribbon really dressed up a simple up-style.

PENELOPE CRUZOMG!!! did PENELOPE CRUZ really walk the red carpet with a hair piece that DOES NOT match her actual hair color?  oh yes she did!  as you can see in the picture attached…her hairline is her natural dark brown/black while the piece they plopped a top her head to make her hair appear longer and fuller is light brown!  bad bad bad, if you don’t have hair extensions to match your natural locks DON”T wear them — at least in public. you look ridiculous!

PATRiCiA ARQUETTE unfortunately i think that PATRiCiA ARQUETTE from MEDiUM recieved my over all “girl you are a mess” award.  her blonde locks looked crazy with their un-kept frizzy curls and an “interesting” part.  not only did it look like she needed to do a deep conditioner before she stepped onto the red carpet but there was no shape to her up-do.  i like a mess but it needs to be a controlled mess!  as for her make-up i feel that it looked half-hearted.  the lashes and eye liner were too defined on the outer eyes and should have been brought in towards the nose a little.  the eye shadow was a little too colorless and i think it could have been blended out towards the brows for a little more pizazz.  her skin also looked way too pink for me, i would have liked it to be more of a pale porcelain color or something more bronzish.

PACKiNG MAjOR HEAT

6090-A8615_l

nails guns, power saws, heat guns, and power drills might make most men drool and faint but my choice of “power tools” is much different.  the heat gun that i pack is my right hand man and i couldn’t live without it…it’s the T3 FEATHERWEiGHT HAiR DRYER.  i dry 4 to 8 heads of hair everyday at work and this magnificent machine cuts my work in half and leaves men and women feeling drop dead gorgeous. oh let me count the ways I love you mister T3.

  1. you weigh NOTHiNG, serious less than 1LBS., my arms and shoulders don’t ache at the end of the day holding you up to help round brush hair.
  2. the heat you provide is HOT, the hottest dryer I have ever used and this heat makes the process of blowing out hair go much much faster.
  3. you are full of cutting edge technology.  You have your tourmaline jewels and far-infrared heat that makes you 60% faster at drying hair then other dryers out there.
  4. you always leave the hair soft, silky, and not so frizzy!
  5. most of all who wouldn’t love a dryer that has sparkles placed along the handle???

I don’t think that I could live without you T3, you have changed my life for the better.  you can purchase your own power tool at www.folica.com at a cheaper price then you would pay at www.sephora.com.

THE EXAMPLE OF MAN MAKE.UP

randomly, after i posted the tips on how to make a manly man look good in make-up for a photo shoot or everyday, i was sent these photos from a test i did with the fantastic STAN MUSiLEK (www.musilek.com) for VERIZON WiRELESS.  they are a perfect example showing the make-up/no make-up look guys can totally pull off.  TYLER from CiTY MODELS and DEVON from FORD MODELS both look absolutely perfect yet still keep their rugged good looks.  so men you don’t need to be afraid of a little man make-up!

THE FLAWLESS MAN

Boys need a little care too when going in front of the camera!  It’s true, even though it may not look like they have make-up on they do.  A dear friend of mine asked for a little tutorial on men’s make-up for when he steps in front of the camera and wants to look FALWLESSLY MANLY.  Here are six steps for a little guy make-up that can be used when in front of the camera or even on a regular basis. – women dig a guy who takes care of himself.

1. MOiSTURiZE

2. BRUSH the eyebrows, and if they seem really unruly i will use clear mascara to direct them into position, make sure you tweeze any stray hairs.

3a. i usually like to take a medium to dark brown eye shadow and place it right along the upper lash line with a stiff brush (MAC’s number 212 flat definer brush is a good one). doing this makes the eye pop by darkening your lash line without making it look like you have makeup on.

3b.CURLiNG the lashes this is totally optional but you may do this to open up the eye, it usually makes them look longer and fuller.

4. depending on skin i usually just use a really great powder, my favorite is by GiVENCHY (www.sephora.com). the powder will even out the skin tone and removes the shine. if you feel as though you need more coverage a tinted moisturizer is best. i really like LAURA MERCiER’S (www.lauramercier.com) — it’s light and blends into the skin very velvety.  Use a large fluffy blush brush to apply the powder and a moisturizer is best applied using your fingers to warm it into the skin.

5. if the boy is suffering from dark circles i use MAC’s (www.maccosmetics.com) fast response eye cream and then may even put a little concealer under the eye. my favorite under eye concealer is LAURA MERCIER, it’s easy to use and blends well into the skin.  both of these products are applied with your finger tips…be gentle when applying them, your skin under your eye is delicate.

6. use some type of CHAP STiCK or lip gloss to moisturize the lips (you want something that isn’t TOO shiny).

Rember that it is easier to apply more  make-up then to remove the makeup you have applied, so go light with your application and then add if needs be.  Also a word of caution, it’s better to have a little blemish showing then a blemish that looks like you have tried to cover it up with concealer.

TORTURE ME MORE.

i spent a greater part of my day updating my personal website, www.prestonnesbit.com, it was long over due to be made much more current.  i have become somewhat obsessed with the last shot i did with JAY PEREZ…the torture aspect fascinates me.  One photo in particular that JAY just recently sent me (pictured below) has gotten me giddy with the way the make-up application came out, i love the nude eye and the dark dark devious lip.  Make-up is such a key element to set a mood or feeling, i love the artistry behind applying make-up.
